Measured, not estimated

The tree is measured on site. The form is written in the office.

Height from two angles, diameter from a photograph, position against the surveyor’s map — all from a phone, with or without a signal. The office reviews and produces the statutory form.

How one tree is measured

01

Height: two angles and a distance

Sight the base, sight the top. Eye height supplies the scale and the height falls out trigonometrically — the same physics as a Suunto clinometer, ±2–5%. Uncertainty is reported, never hidden.

Distance D
11.2 m
Angle to top
31.4°
Height H
8.44 m ± 0.3
02

Diameter: a close-up at 1.30 m

The model reads the trunk margins to sub-pixel precision; the distance already measured converts them to centimetres. An occluded or forked stem returns no value — not a guess.

Breast height
1.30 m
DBH
42 cm
Uncertainty
± 2 cm
03

Position: against the surveyor’s map

Plotted trees come from the surveyor’s DWG. On site each one is confirmed; refuting one requires a photo. A tree that was not measured stays unscored and unvalued — visibly.

    The office opens a survey

Upload the measurement map, assign the survey to one surveyor. No merges, no conflicts.

  2. 02

    The surveyor walks the site

The survey downloads to the device and works locally. Readings and photos push when there is a connection.

  3. 03

    The office reviews and exports

A pre-submission check, then the survey table on the official form and the photo appendix.

What else is recorded per tree

  • Species

From a full species list, searchable in Hebrew.

  • Value 0–20

On the official scale, with the protected root zone.

  • Recommendation

Retain, transplant or fell — with the reasoning.

  • Photos

An upload queue. A photo is never lost to a missing signal.

What comes out

The survey table on the official form and a printable photo appendix. Both are produced from the office only, after the pre-submission check.
